Pearl Care

Pearls are very soft and must be handled with special care. If a pearl necklace is regularly worn, the pearls in the necklace will
gradually absorb acid from the skin and the acid will slowly erodes into the spherical pearl.  Eventually the pearl will lose its
luster and alter its shape. One can slow this process by wiping the pearls with a soft cloth after each wearing.

It is also important to understand that pearls are also easily damaged by chemicals like perfume, vinegar and or any acidic
solutions like lemon juice. Pearls under heat will turn brown and may even crack.  Dry air can also damage pearls.

When cleaning your pearls with a soft cloth, adding a drop of olive oil on the cloth can help maintain their luster.  Very dirty
pearls  should be cleaned by your jeweler or by using special pearl cleaner available on the market.  After washing your pearls,
it is important to lay them flat in a moist towel to dry.
